The Guam Waterworks Authority reported Tuesday morning that four deep wells have gone offline due to power fluctuations caused by Super Typhoon Sinlaku, resulting in low to no water pressure in parts of Dededo and Barrigada.

As of 8 a.m., GWA confirmed no water service in the following areas: Dededo Ironwood, Piga Subdivision, Nevermind Road in Ysengsong and Sanchez-Setbaru Street in Leyang, Barrigada.

Of GWA’s 94 deep wells, 62 remain on the island-wide power system and 32 are running on standby generator power. GWA electricians are working to resolve electrical issues at the affected wells, with GPA on standby to provide generators if necessary.

The Ugam Water Treatment Plant remains operational on standby generator power. All sewer pump stations and wastewater treatment plants are online, with no reports of backups or sanitary sewer overflows as of Tuesday morning.

GWA crews will respond to additional reports as soon as weather conditions permit.

Residents experiencing low to no water pressure or wastewater issues such as backups or sanitary sewer overflows are urged to contact GWA dispatch at (671) 646-4211 or email dispatch@guamwaterworks.org.
