Island youth who spent the summer working for the Government of Guam will receive their final paycheck Friday, Aug. 14, according to a release from the Department of Youth Affairs.
The final paycheck is for Guam Summer Youth Employment Program (GSYEP) participants who worked during the last week of the program - July 27 through July 31.
The final paychecks are the result of the program's one-week extension in response to Super Typhoon Bavi. The extension allowed summer youth employees to "make up for the lost work time."
Guam News Network files show the program was originally scheduled to end July 24, but with the extension, it ended July 31.
Checks will be available for pickup at the Department of Youth Affairs' Kattan Youth Center in Mangilao between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
GSYEP employees will need to present a valid ID to pick up their paycheck. The parent or legal guardian listed on the youth's application may also pick up the final check on behalf of their child, but must present a valid ID.
