$2.4 million in tax refunds have been issued for 2025 income tax filings submitted to the Department of Revenue and Taxation (DRT) on or before May 10.
DRT processed 1,116 in the 19th batch of tax refunds issued by the Department of Administration on Aug. 18. Of the $2,440,802.07, 862, refunds were dispersed as paper checks and 254 were electronic fund transfers.
"This latest installment brings the total amount paid to $135,169,447.52 for the year to date," DRT said.
DRT credited the Leon-Guerrero administration for "quickly" getting tax refunds in the hands of taxpayers, describing the effort as an example of "fiscal responsibility."
Taxpayers can expect refunds to be issued within eight to 10 weeks of filing. DRT said this is due to the surge in the number of returns filed.
Regarding taxpayers who need to file an extension, the deadline to submit is Oct. 15.
