Docomo reported Wednesday afternoon that its network remains operational across Guam and the CNMI, though widespread commercial power outages are causing intermittent connectivity and slower speeds for some customers, the company announced in an update issued at 2:44 p.m.
Approximately 60 percent of Docomo's wireless sites are operational, with restoration efforts actively ongoing. All critical facilities are running on generator power, and field operations teams have been deployed across the island to assess and restore affected sites.
The company said telecommunications infrastructure is heavily dependent on commercial power, and while backup systems are in place, extended outages and shifting network traffic are affecting overall performance.
Customers on Docomo's fixed network may have service if power has been restored to their homes or if they have backup power available.
Docomo said its teams are working around the clock to address both power-related and physical damage issues at affected sites across the island.
Residents are reminded that Guam remains in Condition of Readiness 1 and must stay indoors until COR 4 is officially declared. Assessments to determine whether a transition to COR 4 is possible will be conducted Thursday morning.
