A female detainee at the Department of Corrections was arrested after allegedly breaking a sink in her cell, causing water to spill onto the floor, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by the Attorney General’s Office.
Authorities said the incident occurred on Aug. 11 at about 4:50 p.m. when a Corrections Officer heard a loud crash in Post 8 West Wing Cell #7. Upon inspection, the officer found the sink broken and water pooling on the floor. The detainee, identified as Cleo Colleen Crisostomo Sablan Madeus, was treated for a hand injury sustained during the incident.
When later questioned at the Central Precinct Command, Madeus initially denied knowing why she was there but laughed upon learning of the complaint. She then admitted to breaking the sink because she did not receive her medication, the affidavit states. After being advised of her Miranda rights, she refused further questioning and instead requested food.
Madeus was arrested on Aug. 14 at around 2:30 p.m. and charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief and a special allegation of committing a crime against the community.
