The body of a fisherman reported missing was recovered Tuesday morning, according to the Guam Fire Department.
Rescue divers with GFD located the man’s body at approximately 8:07 a.m., about 50 feet below the surface. The body was brought to shore and transported to the Guam Memorial Hospital.
The fisherman identified as Kevin Nauta, 34, went missing early Monday morning after he entered Pago Bay and was last seen near a buoy, 50 feet from shore.
The Guam Police Department has assumed responsibility for the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fisherman’s death.
In a statement, GFD extended its “deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the individual,” and expressed gratitude to the United States Coast Guard Sector Guam, U.S. Navy HSC-25, and the Guam Police Department for their assistance during the multi-agency search effort.
