Property owners will begin receiving delayed 2025 real property tax statements as early as next week following certification of the tax roll, the Department of Revenue and Taxation announced Wednesday.
The Board of Equalization unanimously certified the 2025 Real Property Tax Roll on March 18, a required step before bills can be issued.
DRT officials said the delay stemmed from a complex technical issue involving the department’s property tax assessment and billing software.
In response, Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero extended the payment deadline for 2025 real property taxes to Dec. 31, 2026, providing taxpayers additional time beyond the typical billing schedule.
The department also waived all penalties and fees associated with the delay to ease the burden on property owners.
DRT acknowledged the disruption caused by the delay, noting many residents rely on timely billing for budgeting and payment planning, and expressed appreciation for the public’s patience.
