A song recorded decades ago by a Guam-born musician has found new life on a German record label's international compilation album after its president discovered the obscure 45 rpm single and tracked down its creator.
Frank E. "Frankie" Sanchez, a popular singer and recording artist on Guam in the 1970s who now lives in Jacksonville, Florida, is featured on "Hopes & Dreams," a new mixed-artist album released by Tramp Records of Germany. His song "Excuse Me Friend" opens the compilation.
The track was originally released as the B-side of a record Sanchez promoted stateside in the 1970s under the name "Guamanian Frankie." Tramp Records President Tobias Sander discovered the single in 2025 and, after tracking Sanchez down through online research, licensed the song for the 2026 release.
"This wonderful track became the opener of our new compilation series," Sander wrote in a letter to Sanchez dated May 11, 2026. "My thanks go to Mr. Sanchez for agreeing to be part of our compilation project."

Sanchez was also recently appointed to the 27-member Advisory Board of the Sport Karate Museum by curator Professor Gary Lee of Texas. In 2025, the museum recognized Sanchez with a tribute for his contributions as a grandmaster and for founding the World Head of Family/Sokeship Council in 1992, described as America's first internationally recognized worldwide grandmasters and masters organization.
