The Guam Department of Labor is collaborating with the Guam Community College to extend the application deadline for the In-School Youth Year-Round Program to Oct. 30. in response to "disruptions" by Typhoon Champi.

The previous deadline was Oct. 24, but that has been extended to Oct. 30, according to a release from GDOL on Oct. 21.

GDOL said the program's partnership with GCC expands the college's Career and Technical Education program to provide "more high school students access to career-focused training and paid employment opportunities."

"The ISY Year-Round program includes a two-week Winter Session and a one-week Spring Session focused on professional development, communications, customer service, and leadership training. Students then participate in a six-week paid Summer Employment experience, where they are matched with private sector employers in career fields or industries of their interest," GDOL said.

The program is for students in the 11th grade. GDOL encouraged interested students to apply online at bit.ly/inschoolyouth or contact their school counselor for additional information.
