The Guam Contractors Association (GCA) celebrated the island’s top builders and industry leaders during its 2025 Excellence in Construction Awards and Contractor of the Year event held Saturday, November 1, at the Hyatt Regency Guam. Since its inception in 1997, the event has recognized quality craftsmanship, innovation, and commitment to safety within Guam’s construction industry.
Black Construction Corporation earned the event’s highest distinction, winning the 2025 Excellence in Construction First Place Overall Project Award for its FY19 MCON Project P-735 Machine Gun Range. The project will advance to compete at the Associated Builders and Contractors National Excellence in Construction Awards. BME & Sons, Inc. received Second Place Overall for its Proposed New Multi-Purpose Recreation and Emergency Center, while Pacific Rim Constructors, Inc. took Third Place Overall for its J017-II Utilities and Site Improvements Phase II Main and Commercial Gates.
Pacific Rim Constructors was also named the 2025 GCA Contractor of the Year, recognized for excellence in safety, workforce development, sustainability, and community service. Ian Corporation received the Samoan Joe Excellence in Construction Special Safety Award for its Renovate Air Traffic Control Tower Building 18015 project, honoring the memory of longtime safety advocate Joseph Leasiolagi.
This year’s event featured 32 category, merit, and safety awardees, including participants in GCA’s Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) program. Diamond-level STEP recipients included Black Construction Corporation, CMS Corporation, Hawaiian Rock Products, HDCC Guam, Ian Construction Corporation, Pacific Rim Constructors, and Vertex Guam. Mark Mamzcarz was named the 2025 GCA Champion for his contributions to the industry.
