Speaker Frank F. Blas, Jr. marked Veterans Day with a message of gratitude and reflection, honoring the men and women from Guam and across the United States who have served in the Armed Forces.
“Here on Guam, where service to country is a proud and enduring tradition, this day carries profound meaning,” Blas said. “We remember those who answered the call of duty — in times of war and peace — and we recognize the sacrifices that have secured the freedoms we cherish today.”
Blas reflected on Guam’s unique role in military history, from the battlefields of World War II to modern-day missions around the world. “The people of Guam have stood ready to serve, protect, and defend,” he said. “Their service reminds us that patriotism is not defined by geography, but by the spirit and conviction of those who put others before themselves.”
He called on the community to honor veterans not just in ceremony, but through meaningful action. “Let us teach our children the value of sacrifice and the price of freedom,” Blas said. “To all veterans from Guam and across the United States, we thank you for your service, your strength, and your enduring example of what it means to be truly free.”
