Be Heartfelt, a local nonprofit organization, is inviting the community to a special VIP red carpet screening of Still Hope on February 5 at 6:30 p.m. at GPO.
The film, which premieres that evening, is inspired by the true stories of survivors of sex trafficking. While not based on one specific person, Still Hope follows a teenage girl named Hope who endures exploitation and begins a difficult but courageous journey toward healing and restoration.
Organizers say the event aims to raise awareness about exploitation and create space for meaningful conversations that can lead to change. The story reflects the lived experiences of trafficking survivors and places strong emphasis on recovery, resilience and the possibility of healing after trauma.
Advocates note that young people facing housing instability are especially vulnerable. National data show that 68% of youth experiencing homelessness are at risk for trafficking. Factors such as economic desperation, lack of support systems, disrupted education or employment, past trauma, mental health challenges and substance use can increase the risk of exploitation.
Through Hope’s story, the film highlights both the harsh realities of trafficking and a message of redemption — that recovery is possible even after profound harm.
