Agueda Johnston Middle School was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon as the Guam Police Department pursued a suspect in the area, according to Guam Department of Education Spokesperson Damen Michael Borja. The lockdown began at 1:55 p.m. and was ordered for the safety of students, faculty and staff.
Police have not yet identified the suspect or released details of the pursuit. However, a video circulating on social media shows two police vehicles pass an Ordot residence before a blue Toyota hatchback enters the frame. The footage shows the car pulling into a residence with a third police vehicle trailing closely behind, the suspect however momentarily eludes officers, before speeding away as police continued the chase.
Borja confirmed the school remained secure and stressed that students and staff were safe during the lockdown. The measure was lifted once police advised there was no longer a threat in the immediate vicinity.
The incident highlights growing community concern over public safety, though authorities have not said whether any arrests were made. As of Wednesday evening, police had not issued further updates on the suspect or the ongoing investigation. This is a developing story.
