Agueda Johnston Middle School (AIJMS) was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning following reports connected to two separate incidents involving weapons, authorities said. The lockdown was lifted after an administrative search of the campus found no firearm.
On Tuesday, Dec. 16, at about 1:34 p.m., officers from the Guam Police Department’s Central Precinct Command responded to a complaint that a 13-year-old male student at AJMS had said he would bring a BB gun to school. No gun was found, and the student, along with two other minors, was suspended and later picked up by their parents.
At about 7:28 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, police responded to an unrelated incident in Mangilao where an AIJMS student discovered a firearm with ammunition inside a box near a bus stop. Police said the firearm is believed to be connected to a recent burglary in Mangilao. The Guam Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division has assumed responsibility for the case, which remains under investigation.
Following information that a firearm had been found near the bus stop, the AJMS principal ordered an administrative search of the campus and placed the school on lockdown at about 10 a.m., the same day. Authorities said no firearm was found on campus, and the lockdown was later lifted.
