The Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA) continued its revitalization efforts over the weekend, marking the second consecutive week of coordinated cleanup and enhancement projects in partnership with government agencies. Teams from the Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB), Guam Fire Department (GFD), and Guam Police Department (GPD) joined GMHA’s Facilities Maintenance and Environmental Services teams to beautify and improve areas across the hospital campus.
Work included cleaning and refreshing the Emergency Room parking area, the interior courtyard, and nearby parking lots, while interior maintenance focused on public spaces on the second floor. The Department of Public Works and the Office of the Mayor of Piti also assisted with debris and waste removal as part of the ongoing effort.
“This is a true demonstration of what it means to work together in partnership to take care of our hospital,” said Dr. Joleen M. Aguon, GMHA Interim CEO and Administrator. “We are preparing to expand this volunteer initiative beyond government partners in the coming weeks, welcoming community groups and private sector partners who share our commitment to improving Guam’s only public hospital.”
Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lieutenant Governor Josh Tenorio commended the joint initiative, emphasizing its importance in improving healthcare facilities while plans for a new hospital continue. “This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to ensuring our people receive the care they deserve,” said Governor Leon Guerrero. Tenorio added, “We’re one family, and we all benefit from this hospital cleanup.”
